About Us
Our family began our quest to develop the Upper Cumberland Trail Riders in 2019 with the purpose of advocating for and developing more dirt bike trail riding opportunities on the Cumberland Plateau, specifically the Overton and Fentress County areas. Our mission was to build and foster positive relationships with property owners and state agencies to promote our sport in a positive light among the masses. The step was creating an annual trail ride/dual sport that brought people together to enjoy all this area has to offer. As a result, our club grew rapidly with highly motivated and talented people connected in the riding community. During this 5 ½ year journey, we will hold our 6th Annual Upper Cumberland Fall Classic at Cub Mountain ATV Park on October 19th and 20th 2024.
The Upper Cumberland Trail Riders, has been working to help make significant strides in the Overton County riding community. This community of like-minded dirt bike riders was formed in 2019 by founding member Nick Hensley, wife Virginia Hensley, his mother and father, Ted and Laurie Hensley, and his brother Zack Hensley. After creating the group, they developed an annual event for the area's on/off-road motorcycle riders. Sponsored by the AMA, the "Annual Upper Cumberland Fall Classic" event was held in October of that year on Cub Mountain in Wilder, Tennessee. With approximately fifty riders, the dual-sport, single-track trail ride event was a success. This event has come a long way since the first year we hosted at our own private property. At this point in time our club has nearly 20 active members in addition to several contributing members from other clubs that have sacrificed riding time to help create trails and opportunities for riding. Of those includes our lead trail developer Greg Gibson, long time riding advocate and racer well known around the southeast. Along our journey, local entrepreneur Jason Cantrell and his wife Lisa worked tirelessly to develop Cub Mountain ATV park which will serve as our home base for the third consecutive year.
